We're having a break!
Hi Smoultstars,
Sorry for the surprise - we'll be closed on Australia Day.
(Actually we close on all public holidays)
We'll be kicking back with some good friends and family and enjoying Moroccan-style lamb enchiladas - doesn't get more Aussie than that!
The GOOD NEWS is we're open again on Saturday, so you can grab lots of your fave foods and tell us what you're enjoying most about your long weekend.
Race in for a coffee, swing past for a salad or saunter on in for some delish grab 'n' go treats.
Of course you'll still be able to load up on a fab range of cheeses and antipasto.

Life is meant to be easy!

Hi Smoultstars!
Yep, CeCe Peniston had it right...
Your new super-improved cafe is back and looking forward to being reunited with you!
The make-over is done, and we're chuffed to say it looks simply smashing.
This means you now have:
  • Way more food choices (new chef Tracey Hogan has temptations a-plenty for you)
  • A more comfortable cafe to wind your way through the day
  • A proper brekky menu (starting next week)
  • An expanded catering menu
  • More cool gifts to buy for your besties
So come on in and soak up the olfactory exquisitry (we think this is a word) as soon as you can!

Hi Smoulstars!

Yep, we're suffering separation anxiety too...
It's all for a good reason though.
We're doing a make-over, with a shiny new kitchen going in.
This means you'll get:
  • A proper brekky menu
  • More food choices
  • Expanded catering menu
You'll be able to get regular updates via our Facebook page. Builder Paul and the team are aiming to have us ready for the big reveal at the start of October.

PS - if you need catering in the meantime, we've got access to commercial kitchen facilities and can help you out

Manchego Cheese is headed your way on Saturday
Hi Smoulstars! This week you'll get to sample some delish Manchego cheese at Smoult's Larder in Maylands.
Here are the essential Manchego Cheese Facts which will help you romp home in any quiz night:
  • It's home is the La Mancha region of Spain
  • Is made from sheep's milk
  • Usually aged between 60 days and 2 years
  • Has a distinctive flavour that is well-developed. Described as creamy with a slight 'piquancy'
  • Bonus points...pinquancy means 'a pleasantly sharp and appetising flavour'.

Tastings will be available at Smoult's Larder from 10.30am-1.00pm (or until sold out).

The 'Batman and Robin' of Cheese revealed at Smoult's Larder

Lock in 10 minutes to come in to Smoult's Larder to meet two cheese Super Heroes!
This Saturday you'll be able to team up with what we consider to be two super heroes of cheese - the luscious Delice Cremiers Truffle Cheese and the amazing Comte.

Delice Cremiers Truffle Cheese
This rich, cow’s milk cheese is made with whole milk enriched with cream. It has a dense, creamy texture similar to ice cream when young which gradually becomes softer due to the ripening action of the fluffy, white rind. The addition of truffle makes this cheese decadent and earthy. This cheese is at its best when the rind has slightly discoloured and the texture inside has become soft and luscious.

Comté Gruyere
Comte is a great cheese, with a nutty, earthy flavor and a creamy texture. It can be fab with your fave crackers or even used in cooking, such as with an indulgent bowl of mac and cheese or your weekend omelette.
4 Comte Facts
  1. It's a raw milk cheese made from the milk of pasture-fed cows
  2. The milk for each round of cheese can only come from within a few miles of the cheese maker.
  3. The milk is delivered to the cheese maker daily and has to be used immediately,
  4. There are practically 83 flavours, which can be savored while tasting Comté. But the main aromatic flavours that delicately linger on the palate are a balance of brown-butter and roasted-nut aromas and a sweet finish.

Doesn't get much better than that!
Tastings will be available from 10.30am-1.30pm (or until we sell out!)
